The Grand Traverse Area Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38 is a Michigan Chapter Organization of the Disabled American Veterans. We offer support to our local Veterans, Veteran programs and support to our active duty servicemen and women. In the spring of 2012 we will receive our new Transportation Network Van, purchased using your community donations. The Van will be used to support our area Veterans with transportation to Medical Care. Our Service Officers are available for consultation and assistance. Our Mission
The Disabled American Veterans is dedicated to a single purpose: building better lives for all of our nation's disabled veterans and their families. In fulfilling its mission, the DAV has developed the preeminent service program for America's veterans. That service is provided free of charge through a nationwide network of 88 DAV National Service Offices, 38 Transition Service Offices, 198 DAV Hospital Service Coordinator Offices, 52 state-level DAV Departments, 249 DAV VA Voluntary Service Representatives, and more than 1900 local DAV Chapters.
How the Calendar Works
Our Calendar works on a fixed 3 day service schedule with rides leaving for Saginaw on Tuesday and Thursday and Detroit/Ann Arbor on Wednesday. The Departure is always from the Traverse City CBOC unless other arrangements are made.
Each ride date has information in the block, if you click on the date it will show you who the driver is and the last name of other riders. If no riders are scheduled for the ride, the Van will not run the route on that date.
Using the Calendar, Drivers may select the days they would like to drive, months in advance and our Riders can plan their appointments around the schedule. In most cases a Saginaw Appointment should be set for between 11am and 2pm allowing us to leave the CBOC at 8am and return just after 5pm. Detroit and Ann Arbor Appointments should be made between 1pm and 3pm. Leaving the CBOC at 6am and returning after 6pm.
You will find that the scheduling will be much easier with the ability to plan your ride. Just call the Hospital Scheduling, let them know you are riding the Transportation Network Van and they will work with you on the scheduling.
