The DAV Transportation Network

Request a Ride DAV Chapter 38 manages the DAV Van in the Grand Traverse Area. If you would like to request a ride to the Saginaw, Detroit or Ann Arbor VA Hospitals we would love to help you get there. If you have internet access, visit our website at www.gtadav.us. We have established a scheduling calendar that will display the dates we are providing transportation, who the driver is and the last names of other riders. We will be traveling to the Saginaw every Tuesday and Thursday, leaving the Traverse City CBOC at 8am. We ask that you check the calendar to verify a driver is available and to schedule your appointments between 11am and 3pm. Every other Wednesday we will be traveling to either Ann Arbor or Detroit. Our plan is to leave the CBOC at 6am, again please schedule your appointment between 11am and 3pm. Some specialty clinics are not available on the scheduled days, as the need arises we will adjust the van schedule. Volunteer to Drive Veterans disabled in our nation's service should never fear needing a ride to a VA Appointment. The DAV and Auxiliary volunteers respond, driving vets to and from VA hospitals and clinics. Other grateful Americans are helping too. In 1922, Henry T. Ford donated 50 Model-T Fords to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for transporting World War I veterans. What was needed then, is still needed today in Michigan--reliable transportation and volunteer drivers. The DAV has also donated vans, where needed, to make the program work. Other grateful Americans are helping too. It's all part of the DAV Transportation Network, administered by DAV Hospital Service Coordinators (HSCs) at the VA's 172 medical centers. Michigan volunteer drivers must have a valid drivers license and good driving record.
